Agric show

The Eastern Cape Department of Agriculture’s agricultural show has kicked off at the Bhisho Showgrounds, with over 150 farmers in attendance. MEC Nonceba Kontsiwe officially opened the event, which was also attended by Transport MEC Xolile Nqatha. This event aims to promote market access for smallholder farmers by providing a platform for them to exhibit their produce, network with industry players and gain insights into market trends and modern agricultural technologies.

The department has partnered with key stakeholders, including the Buffalo City Municipality Fresh Produce Market, Eastern Cape Development Corporation, Small Enterprise Development Agency and Amathole District Municipality, to achieve this goal. By hosting four agricultural shows annually, one per quarter, the department seeks to empower smallholder farmers and drive agricultural growth in the province.
