Eastern Cape Department of Agriculture vaccinated more than 1300 cattle at Ngobozana Administrative Area, Lusikisiki in the OR Tambo District as part of the ongoing efforts to curb the spread of Foot and Mouth Disease in the province.
The vaccination drive forms part of the broader provincial campaign that had seen more than 302 000 cattle being vaccinated since the arrival of the FMD vaccine in the country.

The DoA team, led by Veterinary Services Chief Director Dr Cebisa Mnqeta alongside OR Tambo regional director Zamile Madyibi with teams of animal health technicians working on the ground.
National Department of Agriculture Deputy Minister Zoleka Capa also joined the campaign and commended the Department’s efforts in containing the disease.
She highlighted the importance of coordinated interventions in protecting livestock and safeguarding rural livelihoods.
