MEC for Agriculture Nonceba Kontsiwe visited Rich Valley Co-operative in Bizana, owned by young farmer Mthuthuzeli Sontsele, an Agricultural graduate of University of Fort Hare. The visit forms part the Department’s Youth Month programme that culminated to the handover of a tractor by Premier Oscar Mabuyane with Kontsiwe to Sontsele as part of Youth Day Commemorations. The Eastern Cape Department of Agriculture arrives in EmaXesibeni for Youth Day Commemoration.
The department has set aside more than R233 million in the 2026/27 financial year for youth-focused programmes aimed at employment creation, skills development, graduate placement, food security, economic development and support for youth-led farming projects across the province.
