Day Two of the National Agrometeorological Committee Visit Focuses on Flood-Affected Farmers in Koukamma Municipality
The second day of the National Agrometeorological Committee’s engagement programme included site visits to Hankey and Joubertina in the Koukamma Local Municipality, Sarah Baartman District Municipality, where members assessed the impact of recent floods on affected farmers.
The visits provided an opportunity for stakeholders to engage directly with farmers, understand the extent of the damage to agricultural activities, and identify the support required to restore production and livelihoods.
Discussions centred on possible interventions and mechanisms through which the National Department of Agriculture could provide assistance to farmers affected by the floods.
