Eastern Cape MEC for Agriculture, Nonceba Kontsiwe, this morning addressed the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Agriculture as Day two of the stakeholder engagement session gets underway.

She emphasised the importance of unity, accountability and collaboration in resolving challenges facing the multi-million rand Ncerha Macadamia Farming project.

Today’s session which is also attended by MEC for Economic Development Nonkqubela Pieters follows discussions where the committee met with stakeholders including the National Department of Agriculture, Eastern Cape Department of Agriculture, Ncerha Macadamia leadership, the Imidushane Traditional Council and community members, subsequent to an oversight visit to the farm conducted in October 2025. Deliberations focused on the project’s challenges, closure and community actions.

Today the National Department of Agriculture and the provincial department will present before the committee.

MEC Kontsiwe also used the opportunity to raise awareness about Foot and Mouth Disease.
